BMW to make India a hub for its small bikes


Oct 24: BMW, the renowned automobile manufacturer, has announced to make India its own manufacturing hub the company’s small bike. The G310R, the 313cc motorcycle, is announced to be manufactured in India soon in partnership with TVS Motor.

After manufacturing, the products will be exported to the home market of the company, Germany. Along with that, the product will be exported to various parts of Europe and the USA. The G310R is considered as the most ambitious product from German manufacturer BMW. The bikes are said to have lesser than 500 CC capacity. Additionally, it will come up with some exciting features to grab attention of youthful as well as passionate bikers.

Frank Schloeder, president, BMW India, told that the company anticipates a lot from its product. He also disclosed that a lot of innovative planning with this product is happening behind the scene.

As preindustrial source, the launch of the first set of products has been scheduled at early part of the next year. However, exact date has not been disclosed yet. It is further noted that the product will cost around 2 lac to 2.5 lac, in Indian currency.

The proposed plant for manufacturing this motorcycle is Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Indian partner of BMW is also planning to launch a local version of the vehicle and it will be named as “Akula 310”. At the prestigious automobile expo, at Greater Noida, this has been announced by BMW’s Indian trading partner.

Schloeder said stated that India is among the targeted market list for the bike, while the company also wants its product to become globally appealing.
