Mangaluru, Sep 6: After Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Mangaluru unit extended invitation for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations organized by Ganeshotsava Samithi of Sanganiketan, priests from Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatta and nuns from Santacruz Convent Kulshekar attended Ganeshotsava and exchanged the greetings here on Tuesday September 6.

Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatta director Fr Elias D' Souza, deputy director Fr Prakash D' Cunha and Santacruz Convent nuns Sr Nimpla, Sr Gladys, Sr Florita and Sr Denistia were among the Christian delegation that attended the celebrations.

Speaking on this occasion V Nagaraj, Kshetriya Sanghachalak of RSS, said “We really feel happy after the Christian priests and nuns are taking part in precious occasion of Ganeshotsava at Sanganiketan. For the growth of country, there should be a communal harmony in society. Our method of worshiping may be different. As per the Hindu thought, any form of worshiping will reach God. Our motto is to unite the entire society and work for the nation. We are happy that Christian brothers and sisters visited the Ganeshotsava celebrations and wished us well."

Deputy Director of Infant Jesus Shrine Fr Prakash D’Cunha speaking on this occasion said "Three days ago RSS representatives came to us and invited for this occasion. As the symbol of harmony, we visited here today. The message that we want to give is that, we all want to live united. We want harmony and peace. We thank them for inviting us for this occasion. Let us respect and love each other."

Guruprasad RSS Saha-Pranth-Pracharak, Sunil Acharya Mangaluru Mahanagara Saha Sanghachalak Prakash PS, RSS Pranthya Samparka Pramukh Chandra Babu, RSS Vibagh Pracharak Capt Brijesh Chowta, BJP leader Franklyn Monteiro and others were present.

Of course, we as Christians must forgive & pray for evils of the society, & ask Lord to touch them & heal them. But, we don't have to dramatize & shed crocodile tears. Stay away from them & pray for them.

If a person approaches to end hostility and intends to reconcile, It's always better to forgo the past and begin a new chapter!
What Lord Jesus Christ had said can be drawn from scripture that:

After 2008 happenings, there was suspicion, uneasy calm and bitterness.
On the other side, between the communities, there was long standing, established close bond and trust.
Therefore, even after 2008 happenings also there was no hostility.
However, these last two developments i.e. the invitation and participation, surely will help to rebuild the past harmony.
It's evident from overwhelming 95% of the readers positive comments.

A fine gesture by the RSS that will go a long way in fostering national unity. They should concurrently discipline the VHP, Bajrang Dal Ram Sene etc and prevent them from indulging in Divisive agenda and politics. The BJP may have won the elections after the 2008 church attacks but in the long run without national unity the country suffers. The RSS could have prevented then the attacks on churches considering their Nationalist fervour.

Your comments are like half cooked rice. First of all are you sure as to all the Church attacks are conducted by RSS ? OR it is carried out by Psudo Secularists just to put the blame on RSS. During Delhi assembly elections it happened with alarming frequency and suddenly it vanished after elections. Similarly the beef issue of Aklakat was a hot issue during the Bihar elections but the day elections were over no media raised this issue. What does this mean ?. Certain media personalities who also have lineage to Pak keep on misguiding the people when ever the y get an opportunity. Further can you please comment about religious conversion ? If this stops all the problems stop and all religions can live peacefully.

Mr. Jayaraj ,Please do not forget to mention the the lineage of L.K.Advani.You must know Indian constitution gives the right to choose any religion or faith to its citizens. You cannot make one to remain in a faith where they are suppressed or ill treated, If so it will be forced conversion as it is against one’s own conscience. I wonder always why you all are afraid of conversion. If you want to avoid conversion please give suppressed class within your faith to choose a cast which they want. Suppose if a Dalits want to embrace Brahmanism let them embrace it and give opportunity to become priest if he opts.

Did Advani had his Rath yatras after elections are over?? Did CPM acticits asked that BJP member to prepare bomb when that exploded in your backyard Kasaragod? Finally, how many people you know who are converted either forcefully or for money?? can you come up with concrete evidence?

Recently RSS has held meetings with Christian leaders as part of a plan to set up a "Rashtriya Isai Manch", on the lines of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch that it established over a decade ago.Samjhauta Express bomb blast accused Indresh Kumar has already met two archbishops and many diocese heads to discuss the plan, after which the sangh sent some high level functionaries to Kerala which has one of the highest concentration of Christians in the country.

Over 200 heads of the Christian community, including all archbishops and a few cardinals are set to meet on February 13 in the capital as part of a national consultation to decide the community's strategy on the efforts made by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to reach out to them to form a christian outfit affiliated to the sangh.

In 2017 and 2018 key states are going for polls.Among them many constituency Christians votes are decisive which may take BJP in Rajya Sabha to majority.

Today, nearly a decade later when we are remember with pain the horrific violence of Kandhmal in 2008, many issues related to the state of affairs of communal violence, state of minorities, the state of justice delivery system come to one’s mind.

BJP or RSS has never tender apology for Church attacks.

It is welcome move but with caution is advisable.

It was in reference to Jt. Secretary Mr. Jain of VHP, whose statement appeared in this forum, that Mother Teresa's canonization would lead to more conversions, and her service to humanity was with a intention of conversion.

Festivals of any religion in Mangalore was always our collective celebration. It was not just a Hindu Muslim or a Christian festival. Looking at Dasara in Mangalore, we collectively feel proud that our city hosts one of the best Dasara festivals in the country. As a kid I remember taking part in the tiger dance. Now when I go to a friends wedding outside Mangalore, I dance the tiger dance, because that is the dance form of my home town. It feels so good to see all of us taking part in eachothers celebrations. I am a proud Mangalorean. I have either organized or participated many of these inter-religious meets. Believe me, the joy on such occasions is explainable. Perhaps it is somewhat the same in heaven where all of us will be one with the heavenly Father without distinction as to caste or creed. Hats off to the RSS dignitaries who extended the invitation and the reverend fathers and sisters who responded to the same.

    Jeevan Mamu,

Wish you and all our friends Happy Ganeshotsava.

Just enjoy the festivities, do not pick and put people on spot, just shows your mind set and attitude. You are spooling the spirit of the harmony by our beloved RSS and Catholic families and at least in such instances, do not use your bait on others.

What a beautiful gesture and even to the extent of sharing food with guests.

Society is made of lots of good people and few bad ones, who can influence the majority to take sides by their words and deeds.
