Mangaluru, Dec 20: The platinum jubilee celebration of Capitanio Institutions, was held at the Institutions campus here on Saturday, December 19.

Addressing the gathering MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, said "Chanakya said that instead of looking back at the darkness of the past, we should turn the darkness in the present into brightness. Capitanio Institutions have done it in the past 75 years. Dakshina Kannada is known to be an education hub with many institutions. In today's world where education has commercialized, this institution's service to the society is commendable. I congratulate the Capitanio Institutions and wish that they continue their service for many more years to come."

Health minister U T Khader, said "I would like to congratulate and remember the founder and all those who served in these institutions. These institutions have not only served and given education to the students of this locality but to the students across Mangaluru. It has thereby contributed in the nation building. Patriotism towards nation does not come by giving speeches. But it should come in the form of building institutions and giving service to the society. Today Dakshina Kannada is known to be a literate district and educational hub, because of the service given by missionaries in the field of education. Nation does not become strong if politicians become powerful neither by bureaucrats becoming powerful. Nation is built strong by the students who sit in the classrooms. India is the best country to live on this earth. I congratulate Capitanio Institutions on their platinum jubilee celebrations."

MLC and opposition chief whip Captain Ganesh Karnik, said "I remember and congratulate the founders and all the people who have served in these Institutions. Completing 75 years is not easy For any institute. There is a saying in English 'Be rooted so that you can spread wings'. Education does not mean only earning a certificate. Every year about 1.20 lac students are passing out of universities. Christian institutions have contributed lot through their institutions. But today where are we going with rape victims are released and atrocities on children? We should think about where we are going wrong. I request such institutions that are experienced and served society for so long to guide the society. I wish all the best to this institution."

MLC Ivan D'Souza said "Capitanio Institutions have served the society and given education to many students. This institutions have done the work which government had to do. I assure them all the support from my side and on behalf of chief minister also. I congratulate this institution for completing 75 years. I am glad to be part of this celebration. It is said that serving public is God's work and this institution is doing that. I pray that these institutions grow bigger and give service to many more students."

Platinum jubilee souvenir was released by all the dignitaries on the dais.

Provincial superior, Sisters of Charity, Mangaluru, Dr Sr Matilda Monteiro, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, parish priest of Angelore Church Fr Mathew Vas, Corporators, Praveen Chandra Alva, Sudhir Shetty, Asha D'silva, Sabitha Misquith and others were present.

I too am part of the education given by Sisters of Charity in St Lawrence, Attur right from the age of six. The simple and dedicated life of the sisters had great influence on us students which contributed in building our personality. I too pray for the Capitanio institutions and all those who contribute in the formation of our children.
