Udupi: Foundation stone laid for new Christ King Church in Manipal

Udupi, Nov 14: Foundation stone laying ceremony for the new church building of Christ the King Church, Manipal was held on November 13, 2014.

Most Rev Dr Gerald Issac Lobo blessed & laid the foundation stone for the new church building and celebrated the Eucharist with other co-celebrants.

During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Mahesh D’Souza Headmaster of Milagres English High School Kallianpur said that Jesus Christ came to this earth and saved us from sins. “Today we have laid the foundation stone for the palace of our humble King. This palace will be a place to meet our Lord. This will be a holy place where we come to meet Jesus and share our problems and find solutions. Let us build the palace of our Lord, the King in unity & oneness.”





























After the Eucharistic celebration a short stage programme was held. Bishop’s birthday was celebrated on this occasion.

MLC Ivan D’Souza addressing the gathering said that he would extend his full support for the church building.

Speaking on the occasion Most Rev Dr Gerald Issac lobo said that all should pray to God so that this work would be completed soon. And he called the parishioners to work as one family for the development of the church. He also wished that next Christ King feast would be celebrated in the newly built church.

Jerry Vincent Dias, President of Builders association, Ramesh Kanchan, Councilor CMC Udupi, Fr Mahesh D’Souza, Headmaster of Milagres English High School Kallianpur, Fr Charles Saldanha, Resident Priest of Christ King Church, Manipal, Fr Francis Lewis, Parish priest, Pramila Fernandes, Vice president, Joyce D’Souza, Secretary of Parish Council and Deacon Roshan Castelino SJ among others were present for the event.

Fr Francis Lewis extended the vote of thanks, Pramila Fernandes compered the programme.

Manipal Christ King parish was started in the year 1967 with Fr Sylvester being the first parish priest.
