Monthi Feast celebrated at Holy Family Church in Chakala

Konkani Mandali Chakala celebrates Monthi Feast every year with pomp and gaiety. The feast was celebrated this year on Sep 14.

Fr Aloysius (SVD) and Fr Leo Suares(SJ) blessed the new corn in front of the Grotto of Mother Mary at Holy Family Church before the 7.30 am mass. Fr Aloysius offered the holy mass. He gave information on Monthi Feast. Konkani Choir group sang hymns and participated in the mass.

A cultural and entertainment programme was held at Holy Family School hall at 11 am. The statue of Mother Mary was brought to the podium in procession singing hymns. Sister Lavita conducted prayers. Flowers were thrown at Mother Mary along with 'Mariyek Hogolsiyan' hymn.

Joel Almeida and Jeneview D' Souza compered the programme and set the entertainment programme in motion. Konkani Choir sang a song created by late Wilfy Rebimbus. Alwyn Fernandes, Mesita Gonsalves, Felix Prasanna, Vilma Santhumayor, Sheron Lobo and Menin sang songs and entertained the audience.

Valerian Lobo, Lancy Sequeira, Felix and Alwyn's jokes caused laughter among the audience. Children presented dance under the training of
Velida and Hazel. They asked questions and made the audience participate in the programme.

The donors were presented flower bouquets as a mark of gratitude. Lavina Serrao, member of the Mandali proposed Vote of thanks. Delicious lunch was prepared by Swagath Caterers. The contributions behind the scenes by Rony Fernandes, John D' Souza and Eugene Lobo enabled to make the programme a success. The Monthi Feast got celebrated in a grand manner with the cooperation of members.
