EKVOT- Bellandur celebrates Monthi Fest

Bangalore, Sep 10: EKVOT Konkani Catholic association – Bellandur, Bangalore celebrated Monthi Fest in a tradional way with all pomp and gaity at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church (OLSH), Bellandur here.

The celebration commenced at 6 pm with the blessing of ‘Novem’ and offering flowers to Mother Mary with the singing of “Moriek Hogolsian”. Novem and Infant Mary’s statue was taken in procession to the OLSH Church accompanied by the tune of “Sokkad Sangatha Melliyan”. This was followed by a holy mass in Konkani.

Mass was concelebrated by Fr Arokia along with parish priest Fr Charles Babu, MSC and Fr Julius Kumar, MSC.

Children offered various types of grains for the offertory.

The mass was accompanied by beautiful singing of hymns by both adults' and children’s choir.

President Richard Fernandes thanked everyone for their support and cooperation and specially thanked the pirjenths. Pirjenths Alwyn and Ashika Lobo, Naveen and Anitha D’Sa were honoured with a candle.

Parish priest Fr Charles Babu, MSC surprised the gathering by wishing everyone in Konkani and also spoke a few words in Konkani. He appreciated the support being provided by EKVOT to the parish activities and looked forward to the same in future.

After the mass, ‘Novem’ was distributed to everyone. Delicious Mangalorean vegetarian food was arranged by EKVOT Knonkani Catholic Association. All the Konkani speaking parishioners came together as one family and took part in the 'Novem Jevaan' (community meal). Around 350 people participated in the celebration.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of 'Kobu' to all gathered.
