Mangalore, Sep 26: The body of a teenaged girl who went missing on Saturday September 21 was found at a riverside in Bolar here.

The deceased has been identified as Akshata (18), a second BCom student in a college at Car Street here. She was a resident of Adyar.

Sources said that Akshata had left home on Saturday telling her family that she had to attend a special class in college. However, she did not return home.

Anxious family members filed a missing complaint on Sunday September 22 in Mangalore rural police station.

The body was found near a riverside on Tuesday September 24, but the family members came to know the next day. On Thursday September 26 morning, the body was taken to Wenlock for post-mortem.

A neighbour said that Akshata was a well behaved girl and could not possibly have committed suicide. She was friendly with a boy named Madan from Manjeshwar studying in the same college, the neighbor said, expressing suspicion that she might have been murdered.

Further investigations are on.

As far as possible girls should avoid relationship with boys. I do not mean to say that they should not be friendly with them but should be extremely carefull regarding their closer relationship with them. Girls are girls, boys always prey on girls, best thing is avoid intimacy, if not this is what will happen. I think she did not agree for the advancement of the boy hence this happened, I feel very sorry, GIRLS PLEASE BE CAREFUL>

Edward Maben bro, most of the important things were actually invented in ancient India, but robbed from us by force and deceit by the foreigners!! Just an example father of surgery "Sushruta" was from India, then think about great people like Srinivasa Ramanujan, Rabindranath Tagore, Aryabhata, Ramakrishna Paramhansa and scores of scholars like him who went unsung!!! Who gave the world "shunya"!! Think about the Vijaynagar empire!!!! Only thing is over the years that entire history of our "great people" has gotten erased from our history books and not accessible to our newer generations!!! Why when you salute Google do not talk that Sanskrit is a very natural and most easy language for programming!!!!

And last but not the least, India is the most tolerant country in the entire world!!!

It is a different thing that we did not have the development other countries had, but our past heritage is too great for anybody to challenge!!!

    Jai Hind!!!

    @Rudolf Rodrigues, Mangalore/Mumbai,....
It reminds me one of the prestigious invention by India 7 centuries ago..
    a) America dug a 100 meter deep well and found copper wire and said we invented wires 250 years ago.
b)Russia dug similar 200 meter well and found a copper wire and said we invented wire 350 years ago.
c)China dug a well 300 meters deep and found the similar wire and said they invented 450 years ago.
    d) India told above all dig a well in India and after digging 600 meter no wire found.
you know what Indians answered we were 'WIRE LESS' 700 hundred years before.

Dear Anil Thomas & others who reply to Rakesh Shetty, please don't waste your precious time replying or commenting on whatever he says. His replies are always like that of a frog in a well. Always cribbing western culture western culture. Hongkong was returned back from British rule in 1997. Look at the amount of development that country has achieved under their rule. Look at their infrastructure. Look at the roads. What did our morons including the congress, BJP, JD, who ruled us do in the last 60 odd years. Stop blaming the western culture or a particular party, speak as a Indian. The amount of fuel we use, needs crude oil imported from other countries. Every country needs each other to survive and sustain a ever growing populations.

Today the amount of weapons we have 90% imported from the west, Middle East & EU. There are so many medical break through which is saving life in India. The light bulb was (if you went to school) was invented by the west. The radio, the xray, etc etc. I am sure you may have traveled between Udupi or Manipal, in Volvo bus which came from the west too. If you own a two wheeler, or a car that too is a western technology. Now if you want to know more what the west has done, please Google. Oh I forgot, even Google is western. Boss come out of your slumber. Yenkle illadha vodu thornaga, kudoryana vodu repairi ponda yencha. We are all Indians, let us set our house right first, then speak about west. A closing revelation if you wear under garments. It was invented in Utica, New York, and patented in 1868.

Yep Glenn I totally agree with your extended views!! Also, unlike earlier times, due to very good nutrition and the various hormonal and other additives added to the fast foods that most children consume, they mature very fast, sometimes as early as 11 and due to the sudden surge of hormones they are totally confused, and this is the time the child be taken into confidence and made aware of the dangers lurking around, about the good touch/bad touch!! Moreover, parents should have a very friendly approach so the child confides most of his adventures to the parents and in this way, even if it is trapped in a bad incident, she will definitely confide this with her parents so that some solution can be found and a young life saved at the nick of time!! The olden days of rebuking the children, caning them no longer yield on the contrary are highly unproductive!!

Even if one were to control internet in the house, they will do it outside in a cyber or at a friends place, so awareness and only awareness is the solution to this problem!!

It is an irony that we all have passed through the same turbulent phase as teenagers, but forget about it when handling a child confused about lust and love and invariably reprimand him/her and condemn her, which can lead to very bad result!!

Secondly somebody saying that in God Fearing families such things do not happen and it occurs elsewhere, there are so many so called God Fearing Families who have faced the worst of situations, and children born in utterly poor families with uneducated parents and alcoholic fathers have maintained their cool, grown up with their own wisdom and come up in life!!

Balance is the key to any area of life, which on the face of it sounds easy, but very very difficult to practice!!
    Jai Hind!!

Let me try to win over you with following facts about mobile and how it is eastern technology although not culture:
    1. Foxconn manufactures all the phones of Apple in China
    2. All phones sold by Samsung are manufactured in Asia (India included).
    3. Semiconductor chips, displays or you name it, in your telephone is manufactured in Asia.
    And now regarding western culture.
The big difference between Western and our "current" Indian culture is westerns do not take anything at face value. They try to reason, understand and at the least ask the question "why?". We on the other hand accept anything told to us. God forbid, if it is associated with our culture and identity we accept it at face value and even vouch for it without even trying to understand it.

Price paid by an innocent girl for the rules set by the gender biased soceity.
    1. You need to have good character atleast appear to pocess if not actually have it.
    2. Monogamy (for women only) and leading a puritan life.
    3. Any relation without blessings from parents is unholy.
    4. Until unmarried dependency on parents and once married dependency on husband. Idea of independent (barring few educated and effluent family women) thinking women is still that everyone profess but hardly accept if practised.
I hope our youngsters will get quality education that could guide them to think right as well as take pride in oneself.

Dear Rudolf I agree with you.Further to your comment I wish to add few points. It is shocking to know that many young girls commiting suicide due to sexual abuse and blackmail.Everything looks fancy in the beginning as if love birds in a bollywood movie.Predator sets honey trap in such a way that the girl becomes easy prey for his lust. The act is recorded using mobile. Then, there will be continuous blackmail for more gratification.Victim will have only two options.Either to fight back or to end life. Most of the cases ends with option two.As you said, how cruel is the world outside our home.Only solution is awareness to teenagers. Most importantly we have to communicate with teenagers in our family as our friends specialy on this topic.I knew plenty such instances and I feel let every parent aware of it.

    May her soul RIP!!

Teenagers do not understand that the intense physical attractions due to the flush of hormones creating a big emotional termoil are only temporary and always end in tragedies thanks to the various soap operas being telecast day and night on all the channels, flood of negative news in media, open access to hardcore porn, and the instantaneous communications with mobiles/internet!!

These young formative minds having absolutely no idea of the 'cruel' world outside their houses fall prey to promises, gifts, and pseudo amor showered by their love friend!!

The only way out is to put awareness in their brains, maintain a friend approach so they divulge most of their feelings to their friends and keep constant track on their movements through close friends!!

Only increased awareness, spirituality, and Gods grace can save parents of their wards meeting such tragic ends!! Jai Hind!!
