Kasargod, Jul 7: Section 144 has been imposed within the limits of Kasargod and Vidyanagar police stations, following the murder of a teenager here on Sunday July 7.

Also, the movement of two-wheelers has been banned between 6 pm and 6 am during the week.

Incidents of stone pelting were reported from various places. Around five buses, including Karnataka government buses, and 10 other vehicles were damaged. Two persons were injured, among whom one was the driver of Kasargod-Kannur government bus.

The police have reportedly filed cases against seven persons from JP Colony, among whom one has been identified as Akshay. No arrests have been made yet.

Police have beefed up security in anticipation of clashes between groups. Police teams have been called from Kannur and other places too.

Saabith (18) was fatally attacked by two persons on Sunday morning. He passed away in hospital a few hours later. It is said that out of the seven persons against whom cases are filed, two attacked Saabith while the other five were in a vehicle.

The body will be taken to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post mortem.

In view of the tension prevailing in the district, DC Mohammed Sagir has ordered postponement of by-elections in Bavutamoole at Manjeshwar and Paravanadka at Chemnad which were scheduled to be held on Monday July 8.

Tension in Kasargod following youth's murder, security tightened

Stephan Kayyar
Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod

Kasargod, Jul 7: Tension prevailed at Kasargod town here on Sunday July 7, after a teenager was murdered in broad daylight by two unidentified persons.

Saabith (18), son of Meepuguri Badruddin was attacked on Sunday morning at Nullipady JP Colony by two men who came in a bike. He breathed his last in a hospital in the afternoon.

Saabith

Saabith, who was employed in a shop at Benzer junction, Kasargod, was going towards Meepuguri with his friend Rayees, when the attack took place. The assailants attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the place. Rayees escaped unhurt.

A critically injured Saabith was rushed to Kasargod government hospital, where he breathed his last a few hours later.

As soon as the news spread, tension prevailed in the town, with all buses coming to a halt. The entire town shut down completely.

Police have tightened security in the area to prevent any untoward incident.

It is said that revenge for an earlier murder was the motive behind the attack, however, it is not known whether Saabith was accused in any criminal case.

Kasargod town police have registered a case.

Mr, Sudheer, why are u blaming congress governmate, Its bcoz of BJP.. BJP government built this RSS and Bhajarangdal. Bcoz of Indian's this mentality our india in this condition. Rather than thinking about contries growth thinking about government, community. Already india is facing so much finacial crisis, at least now be broadminded and stop playing balming game. Try to think all r indians and try to come out of corruption, crimes. from past 60 years india in same condition. Even when british ruled, they divided indians, so that we shouldnt get independence. After 60 years of independence still we divide ourself and telling community, that government this government.
