Bekal Ustad from Mangalore to take charge as first Qazi of Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur, Jun 7: Shaikhuna P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal has been chosen as the Qazi of Chikmagalur. He will be responsible for delivering final verdicts in tune with Shariah (Islamic law) for over 15 Mohallas spread all over the district.

Bekal Ustad will be taking over as the new Qazi of Chikmagalur on June 13.

Ibrahim Musliyar (65), a native of Mangalore, has been serving at Bekal since the last four decades. He has functioned as the state president of Karnataka Sunni Ulema Federation, as well as Qazi of Udupi district combined Jamaath. He also has been serving as the chief editor of ‘Al-Ansar’ publication.

A separate Qazi has been appointed for Chikmagalur region for the first time. The installation ceremony of the new Qazi will be solemnized from 9 am to 4 pm on June 13 at Gayatri marriage hall near Idgah ground of the town, it is learnt.

Sayyid Ali Bafaky Thangal Koyilandy, central president, Samastha Kerala Sunni Vidyabhyasa Board, will be installing Bekal Ustad as the new Qazi for Chikmagalur region at the function. Perod Abdurrahman Sakhafi will be delivering the main address. The programme will be presided over by Syed APS Hussain Atakoya Thangal Uppalli. A release also stated that Karnataka State Ulema Federation vice president, M Abdul Hamid Musliyar, will inaugurate the function.
