Media Release

Mangalore, Feb 18: It is one of the rare honours where both father and daughter bring laurels in the same sport to the city. In the case of Dr Ashuthosh Boloor and his daughter Keya A Boloor the sport happened to be aquatics. They both won rich hauls of medals in the national and district level events held recently.

Keya Boloor won two gold medals in 25m freestyle and 25m back stroke, and a silver medal in 25m breast stroke in the district level swimming meet held at Puttur recently. She has been trained by Ramakrishna at Mangala swimming pool, Ladyhill, here.

Her father Ashuthosh who was qualified for masters category in the Mihir Anil Podar Day and Night Swimming inter-state championship (Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka) which was held recently in Belgaum, won three gold medals in the 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 50m back stroke in the age category 40-49 years.

He regularly practices at the Corporation swimming pool, Ladyhill, here. An ophthalmologist by profession at SDM eye hospital in Boloor, he has taken part in many state level competitions before.

I have not seen Doctor's winning Gold Medals in sports Activities. As Doctor's only give advice to their patients to exercise but they actually do not get into sports. But Dr. Ashuthosh Boloor is a unique person. Congratulations Dr. Ashuthosh Boloor and his daughter Keya Boloor. I appreciate for your hard work, strong will and encouraging your daughter, and winning Gold Medals in the competition. That is the spirit.
