Kuwait: Comedy, Glamour Make Indian Carnival a Thumping Success

Kuwait, Nov 17: The long waiting super hit show event “Indian Carnival-2012” was organized on Friday 16 November, at American International School, from 7 pm onwards. This was 17th grand event in Kuwait by Hot Stepper, the entertainment wing of the Creative Indians Association. The highlights of the show were the performances by the comedian duo Krishna- Sudesh along with the gorgeous looking and rocking performer Poorvi and class singer Kaushik.

The stage performances started from 7 pm with formal welcome by compere of the day Merwin Perreira and Nita Bhatkar followed by group dances by ‘Dancing Divas’. Kuwaiti singer Mubarak Al Azmi mesmerized the audience with Late Kishore Kumar’s song ‘Samne Ye Koun Aaya’.

A 25-year-old dashing lad from Mumbai, Kaushik Deshpande entered the stage with Bollywood super hit oldies which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. He also sung some songs from new movies too. Kaushik was in the top ten at Indian Idol 6. Singing since he was 8 years old, he turned professional at the age of 12. He is trained in classical and semi-classical with his mother and comes from a family that has a musical tradition of over 450 years. Kaushik had also participated in the Zee Saregama and have been performing on several concerts across India and abroad.

The sponsors were honored with mementos by President Prashanth D'souza along with Vice President Vinod D'Souza and members of Creative Indians Association. Vidhu P.Nair, Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy - Embassy of India released the souvenir to mark the event. He also spoke appreciating the efforts of Hot Steppers. Many gifts were distributed among the audience who answered the spot questions. A draw on entry ticket was conducted and many prizes were distributed to lucky winners.

Meeting to the expectation, Krishna and Sudesh really tickled the ribs of audience. It was really refreshment for the weekend after a busy work schedule. Sudesh’s mimicry and ‘song bandi’ was much appreciated. When Krishna came in ladies costume as daughter of Sudesh, both od them took Prashanth to stage for a proposal and audience had a healthy laugh. Shy in nature, Prashanth must have really sweat at that moment between two great comedians.

Krishna Abhishek is an Indian film actor and a stand up comedian. He is also a dancer in numerous dance reality shows, including, Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. As a stand up comedian, he made name after he participated in successive Comedy Circus seasons. Krishna is nephew of Bollywood actor Govinda (actor) and cousin of Television actress Ragini Khanna and Soumya Seth. He made his film debut with Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai, Hum Tum Aur Mom, Jahan Jaaeyega Hamen Paaeyega, Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya and recently released Bol Bachchan. He has also played the lead in the TV series, Sautela (Doordarshan).

Sudesh Lehri is an Indian stand-up comedian, film and television actor. Though already known in Punjabi films and television, he achieved acclaimed when he became one of the top three finalists at The Great Indian Laughter Challenge III in 2007. He was born in Amritsar, whom you can catch up with style Main Thappar Marna Tere & "Teri Maa Kaa Sakinaka".He started his career with ‘Wagah’ a punjab movie. He did work in several Punjabi and later ventured into several hindi movies which includes a super hit movie ‘Ready’. Beside movies he is a good comedian and appeared in many comedy TV shows. By Wildcard Entry Sudhesh Lehri and Krushna Abhishek with tadka Mellisa entered as Contestants in Comedy Circus 3. He along with Krishna won the reality show Kahani Comedy Circus Ki. Both of them succeeded in entertaining the Kuwait audience which has become a talk of town.

One of the top 4 finalists from Indian Idol 6 Poorvi Koutish who hails from Chandigarh started her performance with Hindi oldies and slowly she turned to new Bollywood songs. Audience thoroughly enjoyed her seamless flow of singing and expressions. She does amazingly well with old classic melodies and Hindi songs as well. She was crowned with the title’Rrockstar’ for her powerful performances during the Indian Idol 6 competition. she now sings professionally and has done a number of stage performances as well. She went on to have an amazing journey in the singing reality show on Sony Entertainment Television. She was the first contestant on the show to win Close Up Performer of the Day, that too twice! She happened to be the only girl to make it to the Top 4 and that’s quite an achievement.

The programme was professionally compered by Kuwait’s well-known emcees Merwin Perreira and Nita Bhatkar. Kuwait’s very own DJ Flames (Elton John) entertained at regular intervals with what’s new and happening at the music scene back home. The Event was sponsored by Viva, Sarina’s Saloon, EITT travels and Tourism, Global Med and Kuwait Swedish Cleaning Company.
