Mangalore: Youth are Nation's Wealth - Dr Veerendra Heggade at District Convention

Mangalore, Sep 22: "Youth are the wealth of the nation," said Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala temple while addressing the district youth convention held at Milagres Jubilee hall here on Saturday September 22.

The convention was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS).

In his introductory message, Dr Heggade recalled the contributions made by Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and said that their even in their youth they had contributed enormously to the nation. "Today's youth should consider them as their role models in everything they do," he advised.

He stressed on reputation and character of a youth, which he termed as the key traits one should build in onself. He also asked youth to give their best to the country and preserve its tradition.

Dr Heggade lauded the efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan in creating awareness among the youth about their nation through various activities.

M Veerappa Moily, union minister for corporate affairs, Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha member, his wife Blossom Fernandes, Salim Ahmed, NYKS director general for Dakshina Kannada, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Yogish Bhat, legislative assembly deputy speaker, Ramanath Rai, MLA Manish Karbikar, police commissioner, Gulzar Banu, mayor Amitha Kala, deputy mayor, Dr N S Channappa Gowda, district commissioner, K N Vijayaprakash, ZP CEO, Shankappa Rai, Vijay Kumar Shetty, R Natarajan, Mamatha Gatti, Monappa Bhandary and N B Aboobakkar shared the dais.

The convention was inaugurated by Dr Veerendra Heggade along with other dignitaries by lighting the lamp. They also paid floral tribute to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Veerappa Moily in his address asked the youth to have faith in themselves before taking up any initiative. "Youth resources should be utilized properly through various activities as they are the ones who are mainly responsible in building the nation. The should work together in enabling health progress of the society," he said.

Oscar Fernandes asked youth to make use of every opportunity that comes their way. "Youth should be the light of the nation. They should be proud of their nation and contribute everything possible for their country," he said.

He also congratulated Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan for organizing this convention and wished them luck in their future endeavors.

Salim Ahmed briefed on the activities of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS). He said three lac clubs in 620 districts across the nation are set up under NYKS, mainly to empower the youth.

"The organization conducts various activities like national integration camps, conventions, sports and games and many others for youths across the country," he added.

On the occasion, a book on the activities of NYKS was released by Veerappa Moily along with the other dignitaries. Dr Veerendra Heggade felicitated Salim Ahmed for being appointed as the director general for the district.

Dr Channappa Gowda welcomed the gathering and Manohar Prasad, Vasanth Kumar Shetty compered.

C J F D’Souza, R Natarajan, J R Lobo, Denis D’Silva, Stany Alvares, Ivan D’Souza, corporator Naveen D’Souza, Harish Baikampady, Mithun Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Krupa Alva, Siddaramappa among others were present.

    True. Youth are the wealth and light of our nation.
    Unless they are properly energized and inspired in direction, they really become a valuable, dumped or hidden treasure.
    In fact, we are spending lavishly on oil imports by sacrificing a considerable portion of our national exchequer. If we save at least 50% from expensive fuel imports, by applying a new concept in our vehicles, we can have enormous funds to encourage and employ our youth power, to see the real light.
    This also will help the land transportation to keep face with the revolutionized telecommunication.

    Investment in youth it is a future investment of the nation.Govt should give more considerations in the field of education ,technical and needed financial help too to the youth world.A vision a mission and finally it's value.Dr Heggade and his thoughts about youths are always considered to a positive of a kind.

    Well said Mr.Prasheesh Kumar S,Mumbai.Nicely worded comment about our today's youth's wealth and it is being misused/misinterpreted by some people for their selfish gain.All the youth of the nation should understand the meaning of WEALTH.It is not material/monetary wealth.Read between the line.

    YOUTHS ARE NATION'S WEALTH. What is said by Dr. Heggade is quite true.
    But, Some times some people who do not know the value of the WEALTH spoil the HEALTH of the Society by misusing this wealth, say for moral policing or Terrorism.
