Mangalore: Various Clubs Inaugurated at Canara High School

Mangalore, Jul 6: The inauguration of various clubs of Canara High School–CBSE was held recently at the Girls’ High School auditorium. 

Kavitha Shastry, headmistress, Gujarathi High School, Mangalore, was the guest of honour. Principal Joy Rai gave an insight on the need for clubs at school level.  She also urged the students to do their best.

A formal inauguration was done in a unique way by blooming a palm flower, which symbolizes the blossoming of latent talents in students.

Kavitha Shastry in her inaugural address had an interactive session wherein she motivated the students to make use of the opportunities and excel not only in scholastic but in co-scholastic and non-scholastic areas too. The presidents and secretaries of all clubs were adorned with special capes and the minutes book of their respective clubs was handed over to them.

S S Kamath, honorary president of CHSA, speaking on the occasion told the students to have a focus in life and excel in whatever field they choose for themselves. Ranganath Bhat, honorary secretary of CHSA, was glad that students had a wide array of extra-curricular activities in school.

The honorary correspondent, Kochikar Sudhakar Pai and the advisor, Ramesh Kedilaya applauded the efforts of students and staff for putting up a wonderful performance.

The president of the clubs read out the club objectives and also the activities lined up for the year.  Each club then performed an activity showcasing their objectives.

All the dignitaries and invitees were given handmade bookmarks as a token of welcome. The guest of honour was presented with a terrarium made by students of ‘Budding Scientist Club’ as a token of love and affection.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Sushmitha Kamath followed by National Anthem.

The programme was organized by Prathima Shenoy and anchored by Sahana Bhandary, teacher and Gayathri of class VIII A.
