Dubai: Bearys Cultural Forum Hosts Magnificent 'Chammana 2012'

'Chammana 2012' hosted by Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), Dubai at the Radisson Blue Hotel, Dubai, turned out to be a magnificent and memorable event, with more than 1,200 people attending the programme.

The function started with Quran recitation followed by the programs by Beary kids. The Beary kids performed various events which included fashion show, fancy dress competition, group dance, solo dance, kids drama and talent show.

Dr B K Yusuf presided over the function. In his presidential inaugural address he said that BCF is committed to social, educational and cultural empowerment of the society. He stressed that education is the key to success. He also expressed his pleasure over the fact that not only Bearys but the members of different cultures of Karnataka, Beary, Konkan, Tuluva, Poojary, Nawayathi, Banta etc and the representatives of many Karnataka-based associations were present on the gathering. He said that social, cultural and communal harmony is essential for the development of the society.
 
Kaup Sizzler’s and Moolur Star’s group dance was enthralling. All the kids were colorfully dressed and the whole crowd appreciated the performance of the small kids. All the kids were applauded for their participation, and prizes and gifts were handed over to the performers and excelling kids. Mumtaz Husain Kaup compared the show for the kids performance.

After the kids' performance, the men from Bearys gave an exemplary performance. M B Akbar and Sidddique Deralekatte compered the show. There were soothing song sung by M B Akbar and several other performers. The “DUFF”, “Beary KOLKALI” Kolaveri dance, Arabic “Gulu Gulu” dance, Drama by Thoufeeq Halengadi Group etc. was worth observing. The “Ancient Egyptian Tannoor” dance was also exceptionally outstanding with great round of applause from the guest and the audience.
 
M K Lokesh, Ambassador of India to the UAE was the Chief Guest during the Beary Chammana 2012 and he was conferred with Award of Felicitation and Commemoration 2012. Lokesh expressed his love and affection towards Kannadigas and praised BCF for its excellent organizing skills. Lokesh also wished all success to the BCF Members and their committed service to the society and community. Lokesh also highlighted the patronage of NRI Indians and their concern for social service.
 Francis Xavier, Xaxa, Consul (Community Affairs), CGI was the special Guest of Honor and he was conferred with Special Award of Felicitation 2012. Francis Xavier spoke in Kannada and Bearys languages. Francis admired the beauty of the gathering and he stated that after seeing this gathering he was very impressed with the Beary Community. He appealed all Bearys to promote education, as it is the path for future development.
 
Besides, Special Invitees from the State of Karnataka was invited to attended this Chammana 2012. Jaya Prakash Hegde, the Member of Parliament (accompanied by his wife Shoba Hegde and his son Nishant and daughter Divya) attended as "Special Invitee" and was conferred with International Special Award of Felicitation for Social Purpose 2012.

Jayaprakash Hegde thanked BCF for inviting him to Beary Chammana 2012 and admired Bearys for showing brotherly and secular aspirations towards the society. He stressed that the political set up and responsibilities should be free from caste, creed and the true religion and thereby maintaining the secular value towards India. Jayaprakash Hegde promised all the Kannadigas that he will recommend to the higher authorities to upgrade the Mangalore Airport to a truly international status. Jayaprakash Hegde also promised to set up Emigration Clearance Section (ECS) in Mangalore. He also stated that he will sincerely work hard for the overall development of the region. He was amazed to see the true image of secular India by looking at the gathering of all cultures of Coastal Karnataka.
 
Gulzar Banu, Mayor of Mangalore City was also special invitee during the function. Along with Gulzar Banu, her sisters and brother Azim Shaikh also attended this function. Gulzar Banu was conferred with the Bearys International Special Award of Honor 2012. . Gulzar Banu stated that she was highly privileged to attend this Chammana 2012. She felt as if she is at home amongst so many Kanndigas in general and Bearys in particular. Gulzar Banu stated that she is very proud to be a part and parcel of the Bearys and other kannadigas. She also mentioned that she wants to develop Mangalore into a vibrant city. She said she is concerned about the water scarcity problem and drought faced in and around Mangalore. However, she mentioned that appropriate measures are in place to overcome the same. She promised to do her best as the Mayor of the Mangalore City for the benefit of the region and all the people.
 
The platinum sponsor and well wisher of Bearys Ravish Gowda, Group Managing Director, Fortune Group of Hotels, UAE also attended this Chammana 2012 along with this wife as a Special Guest of Honor. . Ravish Gowda was conferred with the platinum Award of Commemoration 2012 during the function. Ravish Gowda stated, "I am very happy to attend this Chammana 2012 and also delighted to be part and parcel of Bearys and all the kannadigas in the UAE". He further stated, "My support to the Bearys Cultural Forum will be always evident and I really appreciate their affection showered towards me. The Bearys will remain in my heart forever."
 
Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of GMU and Founder Chief Patron of BCF was conferred with International Academic Entrepreneurship Award 2012 during the function. Zafarullah Khan, Chief Advisor, BCF and MD, Zain International Group of Hotels was also conferred with Special Award of Felicitation 2012.
 
Farida Fakhruddin Ajmal was conferred with the Award of Appreciation for Social Purpose and Human Services 2012 in view of his exemplary to the society and child welfare.
 
M E Moolur has been awarded the "Star of Bearys Award 2012" in view of his exemplary service towards the development of the society.
 
Mumtaz Ali, the International Patron of BCF conveyed his best wishes to Dr B.K. Yusuf, President and all the members of the BCF.

    Very nice programme.excellent job by all excecutives especially Mr.M.E MOOLUR president of sunni commitee who has really worked hard to put up such good muscical and dance programme.well done for encouraging our youth in the field of music nd dance.where we have to do dawah to non muslim guests instead i appreciate ur efforts for showing up our beary culture with great perfomances of dance nd music..good job.. may allah give u all hidayath

    Good program but please stop felicitating each other - President to Secretary, Secretary to Vice President, Vice President to President - looks too cheap, that too every year samething continues.The only genuine award was to Prof Aboobacker Thumbe.
