OUR RTO SYSTEM IS NOT GOOD AS WE THINK, POLICE ONLY STAY SOMEWHERE AND COLLECTING THEIR POCKET MONEY FROM THE RIDERS. IF THESE KIND OF ACCIDENTS TAKE PLACE STILL THEY DON'T CARE, WHO EVER DOES THE CRIME THEY (POLICE) JUST DEAL WITH THE MONEY. THERE IS NO PUNISHMENT IN OUR COUNTRY, FOR EXAMPLE: IF THE TERRORIST ATTACK ON INDIA, IF HE COUGHT HE WILL TREAT WITH EVERYDAY BIRIYANI AND CHICKEN. AND OUR INDIAN ADVOCATORS(ALSO THE JUDGES) FIGHT FOR HIS REALEASE.

I dont understand this accident. How can there be a head on collision. Who was overtaking? The accident is ghastly with the damage to both the vehicles PLUS the injury to the occupants. Somebody is on the wrong side here.

i drive everyday from mangalore to surathkal. i must say, that tho i am from bangalore where traffic jams are a commonplace, mangalore is something all together different. the problem in mangalore is not the traffic, it is the unwillingness of people to follow any traffic rules. u have to be 100% attentive when u drive in mangalore or u'll meet with one such accidents. all the vehicle drivers have a strong habit of talking on the phone while driving. there are a total of 3-4 police constables in the whole route. the kuloor junction is the worst place on earth to drive. i think common sense, proper policing and god's grace are the only way to solve mangalore's traffic. since all 3 will never occur in mangalore, u are on ur own. best of luck to all drivers, u might be next.

These accidents have now become almost daily occurances. The speeding bus drives have no respect for life. They are not concerned or bothered about the safety of passangers and the public. Some time ago there was a move to fit all transport vehicles with speed governers. The idea did not gain any momentum because of the bus owners lobby. It is time that the speed governors are made mandatory.

Time to replace private express buses with KSRTC Volvo buses. Accidents happen due to competition between two private express buses.

The traffic police have woken up now. The INTERCEPTOR vehicle is doing magic inside the city area changing places at different places. Whats the use when Drivers inform their other colleagues about police whereabouts. It would be better if 2 more INTERCEPTORS are on the Highway maybe in katpadi or far away so that they can see the recklessness of the drivers. But after all the action the buses are on the road after greasing the cops palm.

Very sad. It is common to see accidents of this size in mangalore roads. Bus drivers are pretty bad and they think roads are their own and other people doesnt have right on it. In this case also drivers fault is there but i should also say Scorpio also is driven in pretty high speeds as the state of this accident shows bus rammed onto the scorpio for half and happens only when both are at high speeds and couldnt able to deliver impulse from one vehicle to other. If bus is at high speed then definetly scorpio might have got damaged badly with whole parts of it thrown around and vehicle could have toppled several times and in this cases doesnt seem to have happened. It is always advisable to drive carefully in mangalore and i wouldnt say just bus drivers causes accidents as we can see plenty of rash car & bike drivers in mangalore. When both are going fast there are less chances for any to tackle the situation. But if atleast one is slow definetly there are good chances to escape.

Stop blaming busses here. Look carefully at the picture and broken glass. Its clear that the Bus was NOT overtaking and was IN correct lane.It was Scorpio which was overtaking and in WRONG lane.

Ghastly collision once again due to the reckless driving of pvt. bus drivers. Mangalore-Udipi route is really a death trap and could easily vie for the Limca Book of Records for having the highest no. of accidents. I fully agree with Shekar Moily in that there is total anarchy in Mangalore when it comes to roads and driving. God save the travelers!!!

Drivers of buses in Mangalore either should be jailed or hammered when they cause an accident. Considering the traffic police are going to be farting around, it is the latter action that needs to be taken by the public. Also its the responsibility of the people sitting in the buses to warn rash drivers. The commuters think that sitting in a big bus causes no harm to them and are least bothered about someone elses life. They are either talking to drivers or enjoying loud music.

The bus drivers and the owners of the twin districts of M'lore & Udupi think that they are doing a favour to the common man, it is because of the general public they are there. THE DRIVERS AND BUS OWNERS SHOULD ALWAYS KNOW THAT THEY DO NOT OWN THE ROADS. The government should start the state buses instead of the private killers.

We should be thanking God for this miraculous escape from what would have otherwise been an unforgettable tragedy in our family. Steven, who was driving the Scorpio, Dora his sister, Teena his sister-in-law and her children Gavin and Trisha are all safe at the moment, thanks to God's grace. They have suffered minor injuries and we wish them all a speedy recovery.

Definitely it is very heartening to note and sad episode.RTO they are not bothered about public life as long as they are getting money.Classic example is pathetic condition of overloaded city bus travel."Dhumbu pole,Piravu balle".This is the slogan in city bus.Besides rude behavior of drivers and conductors.Public can not raise their voice. No proper footpath to walk,No signal,No padestrian(Zebra) crossing,No speed limit,No traffic rules.Traffic system is totally in mess here in Mangalore.Besides all this competition amongst the bus owners.Poor public are the sufferers.RTO should take strict action on offenders/violators in order to curb all these incidents.Incidents in Highways like this has become a regular/daily feature now a days.

It is very sad incident. The way RTO working in both Udupi and mangalore district are like authorityless. There is no speed limit, no lanes marks , no radar control. is these authorites are waiting permission from politicians to implements or impose the system. Almost daily happening like these incidents and people are losing their lives.

None of the passengers in the bus was injured!!! Is this a miracle or was the bus plying empty? Looking at the condition of the bus, it is difficult to believe your report! I am sure, God has kept a permanent guardian angel on the National Highway 66 route otherwise 'Yamadoota' would have a gala time on this route on a daily basis! Lucky escape this time, Thanks to God!
