Puttur: Child Dead, Ten Others Injured in Bus Accident

Puttur, Dec 30: A four-year-old child died and at least 10 sustained injuries when the Sugama travels bus they were travelling in met with an accident here on Friday December 30 morning.

The bus was plying from Bangalore to Moodbidri. The accident occured at Udane in Uppinangady.

The bus driver is said to have lost control over the vehicle. It rolled over, resulting in the death of young Charit and injuring ten others.

Some of the injured have been identified as Charit's parents Paneshwar (35) and Gayatri (26) and their other child one-year-old Kaushik, Padvamati (14), Asha (22), Madhavi (32), Venkatachalaiah (58) and Kiran (12).

All of them including the boy were rushed to a Puttur hospital, but Charit could not be saved.

    Police should check long distance bus for adequate safety precuations, I remember once when I was travelling from Nellore to Mangalore The bus which was running overnight had only one driver for the whole trip Passengers comaplined and the bus made arrangements to make one more driver I request all passengers to check this when they are travelling and comaplain to make sure the presence of 2 drivers in Bus, Jai Hind!!!!

    but whenever i went by KSRTC Volvo bus to bangalore there were always two drivers..and the drivers used to be alert and the journey was safe..

    My deep condolences to the family of kid.
    Such accidents are only because of Owners... They dont have two drivers for the night trip... Even if the drivers request for the second driver the owners doesnt listen to them. I know many bus drivers of mangalore bangalore. and everyone says this. Because of job security they keep quiet. Action should be taken against the owners if such incidents took place and whenever there's only one driver. Not only sugama the biggest bus corporation Durgmaba also do the same thing and even they are bus met into accident near kunigal few months back and luckily no serious injury happened to the people...
