Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 21: The personnel of Urwa police station in the city on Tuesday arrested two young women, who were said to be engaged in flesh trade. The women reportedly were scouting for prospective customers at malls in the city. The arrests were made from near Bejai in the city.

The arrested girls are from Mysore and Mundkoor. It is said that they were being kept at a brothel being run by a woman named Latika from Kerala. Latika has also been taken into custody. The brothel, it is said, was being run in a rented house at Sultan Battery.

It is learnt that Latika, who also doubles up as broker, conducts flesh trade in several lodges. It is gathered that she used to operate a brothel in Kavoor in the past. When the police personnel raided her home in Sultan Battery some days back, she is said to have reprimanded the policemen.

The policemen have also confiscated two cars, which they said, were being used to transport the gullible customers to the brothel. Three mobile phones have also been seized. Urwa police station inspector, Ramachandra, and sub-inspector, Suresh, led the operation.
