Udupi, Feb 8: In a small but culturally diverse town of Udupi, three young teenagers with a vision, in their bedroom studios, started the electronic music project that they christened ‘Noizbleed’, which now stands big as a mighty competition for some of the best in the game.

The trio consists of two seventeen-year-old Joel Diaz and Anirudh Sean Gonsalves from Barkur and 18-year-old Sanath Balkur from Udupi. Starting as a rock band back in 2012, Joel and Sean decided to start a side project for electronic music which turned into ‘Noizbleed’.

‘Noizbleed’, the rising drum and bass music trio lately made to the headline with their ground breaking track 'Dimensions', which featured in the 7th compilation of ‘Jwala’, a prime electronic music collective consisting nine members which features many other home-grown bass artists from India. The members include Karan Kanchan and Brij Dalvi also.

This one of a kind alarmingly complex tune which keeps everyone on their toes till the last second is circling the social media with appreciation from some of the biggest names in the industry and reviews from one of India’s biggest electronic music magazine The Bangin Beats. Previously they have released a Liquifunk DNB track featuring their school friend Shreeja N as vocalist and some authentic recordings they took of Udupi's traditional drums and trumpet, called 'Crossing Luck' which did pretty well on Youtube.

‘Noizbleed’ hit the news a few months ago when they started working as music directors for the movie ‘Fiction’ featuring Raj B Shetty.

International appeal

In 2014, ‘Noizbleed’ garnered the support of the biggest names like DJ-producers Nicky Romero and Quintino. With release on international record label Ensis Records in 2016 featuring their school friend Pranoy D'Souza as vocalist. ‘Noizbleed’ had ever since been internationally recognized. During the years, they have constantly evolved with their music moving from mainstream electronic dance music, to now the unique genre of drum and bass and their tunes have made rounds with support of some of the biggest artists of the genre like Redpill, TCDNB, Monty and so on.

Drum and bass

Their tunes echo the sounds from the likes of Noisia and Mefjus, quoted The Bangin Beats Magazine, who (Noisia, Mefjus) are legendary drum and bass producers from the Netherlands and Austria. Noizbleed’s style of music, mainly drum and bass is often regarded as the most complex and creative genres of electronic music types. Drum and bass emerged from rave and jungle scenes in England during the early 1990s. The style is often characterised by fast break-beats (typically 160–180 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, sampled sources, and synthesizers. It is a melting pot of different musical influences ranging from classical, hip-hop, reggae, jazz, to Indian, metal, and so on. While Noisia remain the forerunners of the genre, their influence on ‘Noizbleed’ is very apparent.

The trio revealed that they adhere to Noisia’s philosophies of music production, which includes creating sounds from scratch through digital signals, combining them to make drums and bass sounds, further which they arrange to make up a fully original song. Apart from just music production, the aspiring recording engineers handle mixing, mastering and other post production engineering on their own, which is a rarity among music producers. In addition to this, the young artistes who are highly sensitive about their craftsmanship, do the visual art and motion graphics all on their own without hiring professionals. Such careful execution of every aspect of their art is very rarely seen in artistes elsewhere.

‘Noizbleed’ is all set for a promising rise in the industry with many new bass tracks that are going to be released soon and also with the release of multi-genre scores and theme songs of the audio release/OST from the movie 'Fiction'.
