US Condemns 'Heinous' Bombing in Belarus


Washington, April 13 (IANS) The US State Department has condemned the bombing at a metro station in Minsk, capital of Belarus, which killed 12 people.

"The United States would like to express its deepest condolences to the people of Belarus for the terrible loss of life and injuries caused by the bombing of the Minsk subway on April 11," Xinhua quoted State Department spokesman Mark Toner as saying Tuesday.

"We condemn this heinous attack that demonstrates complete disregard for human life," he told reporters.

Toner said the US offered "sympathy" to the families and loved ones of those injured or killed.

On Monday, 12 people were killed and over a hundred wounded in a blast that struck a metro station in the Belarusian capital Minsk in a suspected terrorist act.
