Mangaluru: Manipal School hosts ‘Tirangaa 2022’ - A Dance and Music Marathon

Mangaluru, Aug 17: Manipal School, Attavar hosted Tirangaa -2022’ a Dance and Music Marathon with the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on August 12 at the Marena Sports Complex.

After lot of brain mapping, this event was planned to meet the growing demands of tapping the hidden talent in each child. It was an open event for all the stakeholders of the school.

Manipal school has been hosting Tirangaa since the year 2011, and this year was special with the format being changed to an intra school event to encourage more participation from within the school.
  
The chief guest of the event was Arun Raj Rodrigues, a successful playwright, actor, director and administrator of the world’s only Konkani theatre repertory- ‘Kalakul’. He is also the PTA president of Manipal School. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest. He was joined by the principal Anuradha Shivaram, the school captain Rishabh MG and the academic coordinators Sapna
Shetty, Deepa Vinod, Shilpa Moger and Srilatha Alva.

In his inaugural address, the chief guest congratulated the school on the unique initiative. He stressed on the importance of the music and dance in our daily life. He spoke on how thearts can enrich our lives and extended his support for the event with a heart-warming patriotic song in Konkani. He encouraged the participants and the audience to keep their ‘josh’ high.
 
Bilal Hassan of Grade X compered the program and the school cabinet & cultural minister, Sairam Hegde, welcomed the gathering. School staff and students from Nursery through Grade X performed at the event. Singing and music recitals were held as well as solo & group dances. The articipants wore flag-themed attire and showcased performances of patriotic songs. Each show commemorated our nations incredible journey since
independence, instilling patriotism among the audience. There were chants of Vande Mataram and Jai Hind echoing throughout the event hall.
 
The 5-hour dance and music marathon featured about 75 performances. Grade X students along with the event committee members ensured that the program was conducted in an organized and systematic manner. The closing ceremony consisted of a vote of thanks delivered by cultural minister Fathima Suhana. The event concluded with a rendition of the National Anthem.
 
Parents appreciated the school for the meticulous organisation of the entire programme. This is what some of them had to say, "A wonderfully planned event with the blend of students as well as teachers’ participation. Well-co-ordinated and above all prepares students for the upcoming platforms."
