Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates World Elderly Day

Mangaluru, Aug 17: A glorious moment was observed in St Agnes CBSE School on August 5 by celebrating the World Elderly Day. An august gathering of lovely grandparents was a mesmerizing sight to see with the ambiance created to tune into the mood for this auspicious celebration.

The invitees were the chief guest Irene Pinto, former principal at Sahyadri Institute of Health Sciences, Sr Olivia AC former provincial superior of Karnataka Province, Sr Edna Furtado AC the school administrator, the principal, staff and grandparents.

The programme commemorated with a prayer service thanking god for the wonderful gift of grandparents. The students of grade II gave a grandeur welcome through a captivating performance followed by the students of grade I and II gave mesmerising performances of a song, entertainment dance to the grandparents. Teacher Chandrika conducted the games to grandparents bringing back the memories of their childhood.

The chief guest gave a brief educative message on Healthy tips reminding all the grandparents to forget about aging and do all that is possible to do irrespective of their age was encouraged upon. "To always remain active, young and energetic was stressed. The more you communicate, the more you think you are still young, then the body and mind will always remain young was the important message conveyed to grandparents. Eating healthy food, timely exercise and remaining safe was positively motivated through her wonderful words of wisdom," she said. 

The programme was compered by Amruth Mariet Siqueira of grade V, Anshiya George of grade IV welcomed the gathering. Sthuthi P Kamath of grade IV proposed the vote of thanks showing gratitude to all for their presence and active participation. Refreshments were served marking the closure to the day's event.
