Chamba administration cautions Manimahesh Yatrees of inclement weather

Chamba, Aug 15 (IANS): Chamba administration of Himachal Pradesh has advised the devotees to not travel beyond Chamba on the way to Manimahesh Yatra in the wake of incessant rain. Chamba Deputy Commissioner D.C. Rana informed on Monday that due to unabated rain, it was not safe to travel towards Bharmour.

According to official reports, the Manimahesh Yatra will begin on August 19 and will culminate on September 2. The heli taxi service has been operational since August 12 and will continue to operate till September 2.

Rana said that the district administration had advised the devotees to rest at Chamba or Mehla and wait for the 'go-ahead' signal from the administration

Situated at the foot of Mount Kailash at an altitude of around 13,000 feet, the Manimahesh lake is about 26 kilometres from Bharmour in the Chamba district. The devotees take a holy dip in the lake and offer prayers after having a glimpse of Kailash Parvat, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva.
