Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School organizes English week

Mangaluru, Aug 10: English week was observed at Lourdes Central School from August 1 to 6 for classes I to X. The English Week commenced with a grand inaugural assembly by the students of class X. The principal, Fr Robert D Souza inaugurated the week -long event by releasing the centre piece that contained the letters of the alphabet and a quote of Mahatma Gandhi that read 'The English language so elastic that you can find another word to say the same thing'.

The entire week witnessed the best performance of students in various activities like 'Pitch a Sale', debate, Creative Advertisement, Role Plays and Elocution. Various fun activities to be done at home were also detailed to the students like the crossword puzzles, Pictionary with family members, reading editorial columns and short stories, practicing tongue twisters, watching English Musicals like Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, The Lion King and so on.

Throughout the week the students of classes VI to X presented various themes through short plays, creative ads, debate and songs. The themes included English Language in advertisements by Class IX, Persuasive language and expressions for debating by Class VII, Creativity in English Language by Class VII, Ways to increase Word Power by Class VI and the Finale Assembly with the theme Friendship and the use limericks.

The principal Fr Robert D Souza congratulated and appreciated the students for their active participation in the activities and also lauded the efforts of the teachers in the department of English.
