Bengaluru: Alliance University hosts two-day sports, food festival

Bengaluru, Jul 23: International students from more than 50 countries participated in FISA-Ball, a two-day sports and food Festival at the Alliance University campus. The festival organized by Federation of International Students’ Association Bangalore (FISA-B) in partnership with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was a global ensemble of young talent.

 

FISA-B is a diverse community of active, visionary, and innovative international students. The international students are pursuing a range of academic and research disciplines across various institutes in Bengaluru. FISA-B was initiated with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to bring together all the international students in Bangalore and support them in terms of academic and social welfare. FISA-B is a non-for-profit volunteer body which relies on the skills of its members and transcends all national and cultural barriers.

FISA-ball organized on July 23rd and 24 respectively was inaugurated in the presence of Abhay G Chebbi, pro-chancellor, Alliance University, Dr Punith Cariappa, pro vice-chancellor (Student Administration & Affairs); Dr Samir Ranjan, associate pro vice-chancellor (Academics & Research); Dr Kiran Dennis Gardner, dean, Alliance School of Law, Dr Reeba Korah, Dean, Alliance College of Engineering and Design; Surekha Shetty, senior director, Admissions, Placements and Alumni Relations; and Montaser Mohamden, president, FISA-B.

The event started with an inaugural football match between teams representing Alliance University and FISA-B. Additionally, FISA-Ball will witness participants competing in other sports and games such as chess, play station football, basketball, table tennis, tug-of-war, badminton, snooker, tyre-flip, volleyball, carrom, athletics and scrabble.

FISA-Ball will also include a food festival that will showcase cuisine from more than 20 countries. Representatives will put their national, traditional, and local cuisines at the food festival. The event will end in felicitation of winners and a musical night for all the international students. FISA-Ball is one of the biggest annual events of the academic year for FISA-B and sees participation from around 1500 international students. Events such as FISA-Ball are a platform where students transform into becoming well-rounded individuals and live life towards the common goal of one world one host.

Alliance University takes pride in hosting such a diverse congregation of international students in Bengaluru at its central campus. The university through the FISA-Ball event extended the culture, values and hospitality of Karnataka and India to the visiting international students.
