Raj Thackeray's Security Guard Threatens Truck Driver

Panaji, March 28 (IANS) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's personal security officer (PSO) was Monday booked for allegedly assaulting and threatening a truck driver with his revolver at Ponda in Goa, police said.

Raj, the estranged nephew of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray who formed his own political outfir, was travelling in a convoy from Ponda to Margao in south Goa Monday afternoon when the incident occurred.

Speaking to IANS, Superintendent of police Arvind Gawas said that a complaint has been filed against Thackeray's PSO at Ponda police station by the truck driver. The police did not reveal the name of the driver or the PSO, who is a Maharashtra police official.

"The convoy was on its way to Margao when the truck came in front. The PSO was angry. He thought that the driver was blocking the road," Gauns said. Ponda is 30 km from here.

According to the complaint, the driver has accused the PSO of threatening him with his service revolver and breaking the window pane of his truck.

Local residents supporting the truck driver gathered at the site, triggering a traffic jam along the Ponda-Margao state highway.

Eyewitnesses said that the mobs were sporadically attacking vehicles with Maharashtra registration passing along the route.
