Bengaluru: St Peter’s Association Barkur celebrates Patrons day, annual general body meeting held

Bengaluru, Jul 6: The St Peter’s Association (Barkur), Bengaluru celebrated patron’s feast with Holy Eucharistic celebration and annual general body meeting. Eucharistic celebration was held in Jesuit Niwas Chapel in city. Fr Rohan Almeida SJ, principal, St Joseph’s Indian High School, Fr Vishal D’Souza SJ, administrator, St Joseph Boys High School and chapel in-charge Fr Patrick Crasta, professor, Dena Seva Ashram, Kengeri were the main celebrants for the Eucharistic celebration.

Dr Kiran Kamal Prasad (Cyprian Lobo, Barkur), Founder and coordinator, Jeevika, Bengaluru was honored on the occasion for receiving “Mother Teresa Award for Social Justice-2019” by Harmony Foundation, Mumbai and “The Human rights Prize of French Republic 2020 Edition” by Commission Nationale Consultative République Française (CNCDH ). Anthony Prakash Dsouza ( Antony Barkur)- a poet / writer, was honored for receiving 'Vimala Pai Konkani Annual Literary Award for the year 2021' by The Konkani Bhas Ani Sanskriti Pratishthan, World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru for 'MASSAM' a collection of Konkani short stories, Miss Super Model India second runner up Sweezal Furtado and Ice cream burger business model award winner Michael Varun Sequiera, Times hospitality icon 2020 award winner founder and managing director, Docens Consulting and Recruiting Co Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru Vilina Sequeira, Rotary Club of South India SPELLBEE achiever Tamara Rose Furtado was honored for their achievement in respective fields.

Menezes was honored as 'Main Sponsor' for his immense support for the association.

Biography of Late John Peter Sequeira (JPS) was released by Fr Patrick Crasta. Augustine D’Lima highlighted the significant contributions of JPS 'the Maker of Modern Barkur'.

Fr Patrick Crasta gave his message and briefed the progress made towards making Fr Alfred Roche, a saint.

The returning officer Jossie Sequeira conducted the election and announced the new committee members.

The new president Felix Menezes spoke a few words and thanked the members for electing him as the new president of SPA, Bengaluru.

Richard Lewis, a famous comedian, entertained the crowd. Peter Pinto, president, honored him for his kind gesture.

Peter Pinto, president welcomed the gathering. Augustine D’ Lima introduced the achievers. Lexin Sequeira compered the programme. Janet Rego, general secretary proposed a vote of thanks.
