Mangaluru: Dental camp held for inmates at district prison

Mangaluru Jul 5: District prison, Sudharana Seve in association with Manipal College of Dental Science, Mangaluru conducted dental treatment camp for the inmates of prison here at the premises of district prison on Tuesday July 5.

Medical superintendent of Wenlock hospital Dr Sadashiv Shanbhag said, "We need to maintain good health. We need to take care of our teeth too. When you have other diseases like diabetes, there are chances of increase in toothache. It is better we go for dental treatment at the earliest."

 

In her presidential address, member secretary district legal service authority Shobha B G said, "The inmates in the prison need to utilize the dental camp. As we all know the situation during pandemic, money and power was of no use. I urge the inmates to inform to the judge or the superintendent of prison if you do not have any lawyer to fight your case. Do not sit quietly thinking that there is no money to pay for lawyer. If you inform the judge, a lawyer can be appointed through district legal service authority for the inmates."

The dental camp will be conducted in the first week of every month.

Dr Mithun Pai BH, Dr Praveen Jodalli, Dr Avinash B R and Dr Aishwarya were the doctors for the dental treatment camp, accompanied by interns Nirliptha Sen, Palak Bhandary, Arpitha Banerjee and Harita P, other staffs Vedavathi, Suma and Shaila.

Dean and professor Manipal College of Dental Science Ashitha S Upoor, associate dean Dr Premalatha Shetty, prison superintendent B T Obaleshappa, deputy superintendent Rajendra Koparde, jailer Imam Kasim, Siddarammappa, psychiatrist Dennis D Souza and others were present.
