I'm Considering BJP's Privilege Notice: Speaker

New Delhi, March 22 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said Tuesday that she has received the privilege notice by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"The matter is under my consideration. I have received the notice at about 10," Meira Kumar told the Lok Sabha.

The BJP has moved the breach of privilege motion against the prime minister for allegedly misleading the house on the findings of the house panel that probed the cash-for-votes scam in 2008.

Meira Kumar added that she will soon give her ruling on the matter.

BJP Gives Privilege Notice, Minister says Allegation False

As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday gave notice for a breach of privilege motion against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in connection with the 2008 bribe-for-votes scam, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said the allegation was false.

"Whatever the BJP is saying is inaccurate and there is not an iota of truth," Bansal told reporters here.

The opposition party said the prime minister misled the house by his remarks that the panel which probed the bribe-for-votes scam in 2008 had found insufficient evidence to draw any conclusions.

The BJP said the prime minister had told parliament last week that no bribe was paid while the Kishore Chandra Deo Committee that looked into the issue had stated that bribe was paid.
