Bengaluru: Eight Capuchin brothers ordained as deacons in Deena Seva Ashram, Kengeri

Media Release

Bengaluru, Jul 2: Eight capuchin brothers were ordained  as deacons by Dr Bernad Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bengaluru in a holy Eucharistic celebration held at Deena Seva Ashram, Darshan Institute of Theology, Kengeri on Saturday July 2.

Roshan, Clement, David, Joseph. Joywin, Devasya, Praveen and Joel were ordained as deacons by Archbishop Emeritus on the occasion. The diaconate was solemnized with the Holy Eucharist officiated by Archbishop Emeritus, Bernard Moras.

In his meaningful homily Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Moras urged the brothers to be at the service of the Altar and the people of God. "No one can see God and live. But we are called to see God in others. St Francis of Assisi saw Jesus in the face of the leper he met on his way." He urged to live the evangelical vows and serve the Lord in every way to bring glory to the Lord and earn Kingdom of God.

Bishop examined the candidates, received their promise of celibacy and obedience. The faithful who were gathered, joined in singing the litany of the saints, after which the celebrant laid hands on them and prayed the prayer of consecration. The candidates were vested with stole and dalmatic. The book of the gospels were presented to each candidate. The Archbishop extended a kiss of peace to the newly ordained brothers.

A formal felicitation program was organized. All the ordained deacons were felicitated on this occasion.  Provincial minister Fr John Alwyn Dias appreciated the great sacrifices of their parents and family members, friends and benefactors who witnessed the event in good numbers.

Br Devasya, newly ordained deacon, shared his sentiments on behalf of his companions, thanking everyone who contributed and who were the cause for the meaningful and successful celebration. Fr Naveen D’souza, vice rector rendered the vote of thanks.
