Yemeni President Sacks Government: Report

Sana'a, March 21 (DPA) Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh fired his government Sunday, the state-run news agency SABA reported.

However, Saleh asked the same ministers to act as a caretaker cabinet until further notice.

His decision comes after three ministers resigned over the past few days in protest at the use of violence against protests demanding the ouster of Saleh.

Meanwhile, Sunday was a day of national mourning in Yemen -- announced by President Saleh himself -- for those killed in Friday's bloody attack on protesters, which left 52 killed according to opposition.

A coalition of opposition factions issued a statement urging the international community to protect Yemeni protesters.

For two months now, Yemenis have been calling for an end to Saleh's 32 years of rule.
