Bantwal, Jun 30: Hill caved in at Navuru, Badagundi, B C Road, Belthangady national highway in the heavy rain damaging the road side light pole and hindering traffic for more than half an hour on Thursday June 30.

Two roadside light poles and heaps of mud fell on the road. The light poles and the mud had to be cleared by using JCB later.

The road was widened during B C Road-Punjalkatte road works digging the roadside hills.

Border walls were constructed in an unscientific manner on both the sides after widening the road. The mud from the hill used to cave in on light poles every year during the monsoon damaging the poles and causing problems for traffic.

People have expressed anguish that unscientific work is the cause of the incident.
