Udaipur Shocker: Internet services suspended across Raj, Section 144 clamped

Udaipur, Jun 29 (IANS): In the aftermath of the gruesome beheading of a tailor in Udaipur on Tuesday, the Rajasthan government has ordered suspension of internet services across the state for the next 24 hours.

Also, Section 144 has been clamped in the state for a month.

At a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, it was decided to clamp Section 144 across the state besides suspending internet services keeping security concerns in mind.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, Rajasthan police arrested two persons for the gruesome broad daylight beheading of a tailor in Udaipur, Director General of Police, M.L. Lather, said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Gos Mohammad, son Rafiq Mohammed, and Riaz, son of Abdul Jabbar, both residents of Surajpol area in Udaipur, Lathar said.

The victim was identified as Kanhaiyalal Teli (40), a resident of Bhima town in Rajsamand district, who ran a tailoring shop in Udaipur.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kanhaiyalal was beheaded inside his shop on a crowded street in Udaipur for supporting now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on social media over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammed.

A video of the incident where the accused claimed responsibility for the murder has gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, an SIT team has been constituted to investigate the Udaipur incident, which includes SOG ADG Ashok Rathod, ATS IG Praful Kumar along with one SP and Additional SP.

Further, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has been rushed to Udaipur to probe the matter.

Toughest punishment should be given to the culprits and no one should be allowed to take law in their hands. This is simply killing humanity.

The killers need to be hanged immediately. No need of jail/court/bail etc. There should be instant death for these kind of criminals. Also, there should be strict law to ensure that no one talks ill about other religion/caste/creed. We are facing this situation due to our beloved politicians be it Congress or BJP and their chelas.

Crimes in the name of religion accelerate rapidly which always gives mileage for a particular political party.. As elections gonna take place in two states i.e Karnataka and Rajasthan in few months time, communal disharmony obviously will be intensified till the polls are over.

I am at a loss to understand that comments are not gaining on this issue, as there was in Nupur's case where she was hounded for no reason. She had even apologized in case she had hurt sentiments Now what about this?? Killing a harmless tailor and gloating over it as an achievement ?? What all kinds are living in our midst?

What do u mean by incase she had hurt sentiments. Of course she did else the Muslim world leaders are not mad/insane like Andh bhakts to protest. Even though killing is not justified but unfortunately when perpetrators are protected and supported by the rulers then the common man will take jusrice in hand. That's the reason there should be justice for just cause

These guys must be tried in fastest court and hanged within a fortnight... That is the only way to deter other Talibani mindsets... Also Kanhaiya type of people must show restraint in expressing their views in public... Overall Mr. Modi must address the nation and appeal to maintain brotherhood and respect for religious sentiments of all communities... His silence in this burning issue points out to several doubts....
