Man weighing 120 kg held while attempting robbery


New Delhi, Jun 27 (IANS): A 43-year-old man, weighing 120 kg, was caught red-handed while he was trying to commit a robbery here, an official said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Sachin Bhutani, was previously found involved in six criminal cases in Bahadurgarh, Haryana.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer district) Sameer Sharma said the incident took place on June 18 when a woman along with her maid and 5-year-old son went to Subzi Mandi, Rani Bagh in her car.

After some time, while leaving the market, Bhutani forcefully entered the car and put a knife on the neck of complainant and threatened her to hand over cash and other valuables.

The woman raised an alarm and ran out of the car along with the maid and her son.

The accused person then sat behind the wheel and tried to rob it but a police constable who was patrolling in the market area, overpowered Bhutani and detained him.

The police have registered an FIR under section 393 of IPC at Rani Bagh police station and the accused has been arrested.
