Puttur: High court quashes caste abuse, assault case filed against Ritesh Pais

Puttur, Jun 27: High court quashed the caste abuse, assault criminal case filed against Elmudi resident Ritesh Pais.

High court gave an important verdict saying that if someone abuses in the ground floor of a building, it does not pertain to prevention of atrocities on scheduled caste, tribes act. Justice Nagaprasanna said that the act applies only if the abuse is carried out in public places.

A civil case between entrepreneur Ritesh Pais and Jaya Kumar Nair was under investigation in court. Ritesh Pais had obtained preventive order against Jaya Kumar Nair. FIR was registered against Ritesh Pais as per the complaint filed by the labourers of Jaya Kumar Nair’s building.

Ritesh Pais had got anticipatory bail through fifth additional district and sessions court through his counsel Shambhu Bhat. Police who investigated the matter, had filed charge sheet in fifth additional district and sessions court of Puttur.

Ritesh Pais had filed petition in high court seeking quashing of the case. The one member bench, which conducted inquiry, quashed the case.
