Udupi, June 24: Udupi district BJP observed a dark day on the 45th anniversary of Emergency imposed by the Indira Gandhi government. Udupi district BJP president Kuyilady Suresh Nayak said that Siddaramaiah has said that there is an environment of emergency in the country at present. “It is not right for him to say so as he was in the opposition party during the emergency and he proceeds holding the tail of Congress at present. Indira Gandhi had imposed emergency only to hold on to her power. Congress party is in a situation of sitting on protests at present when a notice is issued from the enforcement directorate. Democracy was murdered by imposing emergency and leaders of the opposition party were arrested,” he said.

Ramakanth Devadiga, Karkala who had fought against democracy was felicitated by BJP on the occasion.

Mangaluru division in charge Uday Kumar Shetty, urban development authority president Manohar Kalmadi, BJP district chief secretary Sadananda Uppinakudru and programme convener Reshma U Shetty were present.
