Three international awards in honour of Kempe Gowda

Bengaluru, June 23: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, District In-Charge Minister for Ramanagara and Vice-President of Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Heritage Area Development Authority, announced on Thursday, June 23 that an international award will be presented to three achievers every year starting this year in honour of the founder of Bengaluru city, Kempe Gowda.

Addressing the gathering on the 513 Birth Anniversary of Kempe Gowda organised at Magadi, he said the historical fort built by Kempe Gowda will be renovated and conserved.

The International Awardees will be rewarded with a cash of Rs 5 Lakh each, Dr Narayan said adding: The State Government will celebrate Kempe Gowda's birth anniversary at Vidhana Soudha on June 27 in a grand manner.

He said places such as Savanadurga, Huliyurudurga, etc which have historical relevance in relation to Kempe Gowda’s regime will be developed on priority.

Local BJP leader H N Krishnamurty was present.

Development works in native village

Later, the minister visited his native village Chikkakalya and inaugurated the new building of the milk producers’ cooperative society and the new veterinary hospital.

The new building of the milk producers’ cooperative society has been constructed on the valuable land donated by Narayanappa, who is Minister’s father.

Pertaining to the veterinary hospital, the Minister had played a major role in getting sanctioned and space has been provided in the dairy building itself.

For time being, the veterinary hospital has been set up in the dairy building and it will function from this building temporarily until a new building is constructed on the land donated by villager Sridhar who also happens to be Minister’s cousin.

On his arrival in his native place, villagers welcomed him in a grand manner. To begin with, Minister Narayan performed puja at the Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple.

Speaking here, Minister called on the villagers to focus on rearing goats and sheep along with dairy farming.
MLA Manjunath, MLC A Deve Gowda, KMF MD Sathish, and prominent persons of the village were present.
