Washington, March 12 (IANS) US House of Representatives speaker John Boehner has described the relationship with India as one of the important relationships for the US, including for Congress.Boehner expressed the sentiment during a meeting with the Indian ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar last week, the Indian embassy said Friday.
Shankar's discussion with Boehner focused on the positive and strategic relationship between India and the United States, which enjoys bipartisan support in the US as well as broad spectrum political support in India.
The opportunities for further cooperation, including in the trade, economic, energy and high technology areas were also discussed.
"Speaker Boehner remarked that the relationship with India was one of the important relationships for the US, including for the Congress," the embassy said.
