Goa to Create Database of Rogue Recruitment Agents

Panaji, Mar 11 (PTI) The Goa government has decided to crackdown on fraudulent travel and recruitment agents who con job seekers, wanting to work abroad and will create a database in this regard to take appropriate action against them.

The Commission will set up a Committee which will work for protection of emigrants and deal with unscrupulous recruiting agents, Goa NRI Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro told reporters today.

"The Committee along with police authorities would gather intelligence and create a database of such fraudulent travel agents, recruiting agents and intermediaries who indulge in irregular migration," Faleiro said.

The Commission had to initiate the data base exercise considering the number of complaints against these agents, he said.

"There are several cases of people being sent abroad on fake documents after charging huge money. Many a times, these gullible candidates are trapped abroad forcing the missions there to rescue them," he said.
