Margao, Mar 2: GOACAN is observing a consumer rights awareness fortnight from Tuesday March 1, with the theme ‘Assert Rights, Pursue Remedies’.

The awareness fortnight will conclude on World Consumer Rights Day on Tuesday March 15 on the eve of the budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.

During the fortnight, GOACAN will highlight the need for ‘consumer literacy’ in the towns, villages and campuses of the state so that consumers make a determined effort to read their rights and write in their complaints.

GOACAN co-ordinator Roland Martin has said that they will  focus on grievance redressal mechanisms of public sector undertakings providing LPG, posts, and telecom and state government service providers of road transport, ferry services, electricity and water supply.

Martin said that awareness messages will also be circulated in schools, higher secondary schools, and colleges through the consumer welfare clubs for the benefit of students and teachers.
