Saudi Man in US Custody for Terror Plot


Washington, Feb 25 (IANS) A Saudi Arabia-origin man has been arrested in the US state of Texas on charges of plotting terrorist attacks with weapons of mass destruction, the US justice department said.

Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, originally from Saudi Arabia and residing in Lubbock, Texas, was arrested Wednesday by FBI agents, Xinhua reported.

He has been accused of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction in connection with his alleged purchase of chemicals and equipment to make an improvised explosive device (IED).

If convicted, he will face a maximum sentence of life in prison and $250,000 fine.
