Kundapur: Minister S Angara inaugurates tourist shelter at Kollur

Kundapur, May 16: Minister of fisheries, port, inland water transport and district in charge minister S Angara inaugurated today a tourist shelter for tourists arriving at Kollur constructed by the public works department at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.

“Projects implemented with far sight for the benefit of people such as rural roads, drinking water supply, Kindi dam etc will be beneficial to people to a great extent,” he said.

“Suitable market for fish to make it more profitable, freezing facilities to store fish, vehicles with freezers and other tools will be distributed to the concerned,” he said.

Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty who presided over the programme said that the number of tourists to Kollur is increasing every year and pilgrims need accommodation facilities. “Rs 9.80 crore are approved for the full-fledged tourist shelter besides the current newly built tourist shelter. The construction work will begin soon. Priority is given to quality work. Strict action will be taken against poor workmanship,” he said.

Kollur gram panchayat president Shivarama Krishna Bhat, Kundapur sub divisional officer Raju, Byndoor tahsildar Shobha Laxmi, PWD executive engineer Ravi Kumar and others were present.
