Bengaluru: Heavy rains in state from May 18, yellow alert sounded

Bengaluru, May 16: The sporadic rain that is lashing some parts of the state due to the drop in atmospheric pressure over Bay of Bengal will intensify from May 18.

Sunday, May 15 also witnessed rains in many district. Bagalkot received 87mm, while Tamaka in Kolar had 77mm and Suttur in Mysuru reported 21mm of rain.

The meteorological department sounded yellow alert in the districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan on May 16 and 17. In addition, many other districts will also receive rains on May 18 and 19.

According to the information provided by the meteorological department, yellow alert is sounded for the next four days in the districts of Bengaluru, Bengaluru Rural, Ramnagara, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Ballari and Davanagere and for the next 48 hours in Bidar, Vijayapura, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Yadagir, Koppal, Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkot and Belagavi.
