Mega Health Mela at Chikkaballapur will be world record, says Dr Sudhakar

Bengaluru, May 13: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Friday said the Mega Health Mela being organised at Chikkaballapur for two days on Saturday and Sunday will be a world record as a record 1.5 lakh persons will be examined and given treatment for all kinds of ailments under one roof.

Speaking to media representatives on Friday, the minister said the Health and Family Welfare Department, Medical Education Department, private hospitals, Chikkaballapur district administration as well as Dr K Sudhakar Foundation were jointly organising the mega health mela on May 14 and 15 for which on the spot registration will be done through 50 special counters.

Claiming that 1.5 lakh persons will be participating in the mega health mela, Dr Sudhakar said the previous record for largest participation of people at a single place was 73,000 and the Chikkaballapur health mela will surpass that record.

Over 2,000 doctors, including more than 500 specialists, and over 2,500 nursing officials, Asha workers, technicians and senior officials will be part of the health mela, the minister said.

Dr Sudhakar said all persons above 30 years must undergo complete health check-up annually.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt pontiff Sri Nirmalananda Swamiji, BJP national general secretary BL Santhosh as well as State BJP in charge Arun Singh will be participating in the mela, the minister added.
