Kundapur, May 13: “An MLA should respond to the issues in his constituency on priority basis. This is the duty of people representative. Work of instilling confidence in people, who are scared because of increasing cases of Dengue fever, has to be given priority than laying foundation stone,” said an infuriated former MLA of Byndoor K Gopala Poojary.

Gopal Poojary visited government hospital in the taluk and enquired about the well-being of Dengue fever affected people of Mudoor area. He also had interaction with deputy commissioner and district health officer and then gave details to the media.

Gopal further said, “Dengue fever cases are increasing rapidly in Mudoor. It is appreciable that the health department is taking good care of people. I have spoken to the patients in government hospital and have instilled confidence in them. Already 80 people are cured. More than 30 are still under treatment. District administration and health department should take steps to prevent further spread of the disease.”

Responding with regards to the visit of district in charge minister, Poojary said, “Local MLA should bring the prevailing situation here to the notice of in-charge minister. Only then the in-charge minister calls a meeting and asks the officials to take action. It seems local MLA is not concerned about the happenings here. For him, laying foundation stone is more important than the health and lives of local people. Let him do the Guddali Pooja after providing happy environment to live in for the people.”

“Many are admitted into private hospitals also. The government has to bear their medical expenses. I will visit Mudoor and hold discussion with the people of that locality and instill confidence in them,” said Gopal Poojary.
