Udupi, May 10: "Making India a proud country is the idea of Anthyodaya . The SC and ST community has preserved Tulunadu legacy and original thoughts. Hence, the Union government has plans to making India entrepreneuria'", said Nalin Kumar Kateel, state BJP president.
He was speaking after inaugurating the programme, ‘A step towards Antyodaya and SC/ST community Udupi Constituency convention, at Smt Ammanni Ramanna Shetty hall here on Tuesday, May 10.
The programme was jointly organized by Udupi Town BJP and Rural mandalas.
Nalin ensured that he will try to resolve the problem of conversion of land of SC/ST/. "I will also discuss on sanctioning a one-day holiday on the occasion of Holi for Kudubi community and construction of houses for Koraga community people under ITDP scheme". he added.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat put forth various demands in front of Nalin Kumar Kateel to be conveyed to the chief minister. The government plans and welfare programmes should reach even the last person of the society. Recently, housing schemes are being implemented under Rajiv Gandhi Housing Commission. If the housing scheme is executed under ITDP, it will be beneficial to the SC/ST community."
Bhat also requested, "The government should give permission to the deputy commissioner to approve conversion of Koraga lands up to 10 cents. If it is approved, it will be beneficial to the community."
Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister of social welfare and backward classes welfare, said, "The government has reserved Rs 28,000 crores for the scheduled community. It will be to provide housing for the siteless people."
Chalavadi Narayan Swamy, president, State SC Morcha, alleged, ‘The Congress government did not give anything to our community even after 70y years of Independence. They did not allow us to grow in society. BJP government has given all the facilities."
