Byndoor: Mohan Alva conferred with Bindushri Award

Byndoor, May 11: Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva was conferred with the Bindushri Award at a function held here.

Speaking on the occasion, Alva said India had gaps and flaws in social, education and other fields even after 75 years of attaining Indian independence. He said it is not enough if we strengthen intellectually or educationally but added that it is necessary to build beautiful minds together and develop good thoughts.

He said it is everyone's responsibility to develop children as the country's resources but also encourage them to participate in sports and cultural activities along with their studies.

Jayananda Hoblidar, member of Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple managing committee presided over the function. Retired bank official Vasantha Hegde was also present. Retired teacher Janardhana Maravanthe also spoke.

Byndoor Jathre Utsava Samithi president Deepak Kunar Shetty, former chairman of Grama Panchayat S Raju Poojary and industrialist B Sridhara Belemane were also present.

Nagaraj P Yadtare welcomed. Secretary of Surabhi Anand Mudodi Bhaskar Bada proposed the vote of thanks. Sudhakar P Byndoor compered the programme.

The awardees were taken around Byndoor in a procession.
