Mandya: ‘Navilugari’ collection of poems by Dr Bharathi Pilar bags best poetry award

Mandya, May 7: Kasturi Sirikannada Vedike of Mandya state unit had held 25th poets and poetry conference and felicitation programme. The collection of poems by assistant Mangalore University professor Dr Bharati Pilar titled ‘Navilugari’ has bagged the best collection of poems award.

Shivacharya Swamy of Sha Bhra Mummudi Shadakshara national centre, Veera Samsthana Math, Danagoor inaugurated the programme. Author Elekeri D Rajashekar Channapattana chaired the conference. G V Nagaraju, secretary, Sevakirana Trust, Mandya presided over the programme. Author Mahesh Kumar Hanakere Sirsi, state vice president Manjula Ramesh Mysuru and Mandya based advocate M Guruprasad were present as guests of honour.

Kasturi Sirigannada Vedike state president Potera Mahadevru gave a keynote address. Nearly 30 poets from various parts of the state read their poems. Poets were presented Kavyashree and Kaustubha awards. Litterateur Mahesh Kumar Hanakere released ‘Kanana’ a collection of poems by state level selected poets on the occasion.
