Bantwal: Gaur falls into water tank – Rescue process on

Bantwal, May 2: In an incident that occurred at Kanyana of Vittal in the taluk, a gaur that came to drink water from the forest fell into a water tank.

The animal had come from Kalenjamale reserve forest. When it tried to drink water from the tank of Bharatha Sevashrama at Kanyana it slipped and fell into the tank. This incident happened around midnight on Sunday.

The inmates of the ashram came to know about the mishap only in the morning. Forest officers have rushed to the spot and are conducting operation to lift the gaur from the water tank by clearing the water first.

The tank is five foot in depth and the gaur is not injured according to forest officials.

    Poor thing.The tank is built so in a not good position.Looks more slippery on its boundery.Please make it a bit sides higher ,so that even human cannot slip and fall into it.Hope it has not broken legs.Why cant cover it with a net so that no leaves fall it or birds fall ?
