Udupi: Bus driver sentenced to two years jail, fined for negligent driving

Udupi, Apr 30: A court here sentenced a bus driver for negligent driving and causing death of a pedestrian.

Prabhakar, driver of Canara tourist bus drove the bus at very high speed and knocked down Nagaraj, who was standing by the road side on January 9, 2017 at 5.20 am on national highway near Puttur Santhekatte Highway Garage. Nagaraj died on the spot.

First additional CJ and JMFC court justice Shyamprakash sentenced accused to two years in prison and a fine of Rs 10,000. Assistant public prosecutor Mohini K argued for the prosecution.
