Chikkamagaluru, Apr 29: Contractor of Belagavi origin killed himself in a lodge in Balehonuur in the district on Wednesday, April 27.
Basavaraj (47) is the person who committed suicide. His father in law Erappa Karadikoppa of Hebballi in Dharwad taluk has filed a complaint in Balehonnur police station accusing Jayaram, owner of Aishwarya Giri construction private limited of Bengaluru is the reason behind his son in law’s extreme step.
It is alleged that Jayaram did not pay Rs 1.20 crore of a work that the deceased Basavaraj carried out for him. Because of this the deceased was in tension. Complainant said that his daughter and wife of deceased Ratna had conveyed the issue to him.
Basavarj was carrying out works under the Jaljeevan mission in and around Balehonnur for the past seven months.
Balehonnur police are investigating further.
